    Dr. Serra opened Wood River Animal Hospital in 1992, with a vision to provide quality General Practice and Internal Medicine specialty services in a relaxed rural setting. He is a native of Westerly, Rhode Island and a 1977 graduate of the University of Rhode Island.

    Leah K. Fischer
    Growing up in Southern Rhode Island, Dr. Fischer was active in 4-H and even worked at Wood River Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician. After receiving an Animal Science degree from The University of Rhode Island in 2010, Dr. Fischer was accepted into the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Ashley Torbert

    Ashley started working as a full-time Technician in November of 2016. She was born and raised in Southern Virginia and moved to Rhode Island 14 years ago. Her love for animals has transitioned throughout her life and she is happy to finally be able to live up to her dream of being an animal advocate and nurse at Wood River Animal Hospital.

    Courtney started work at Wood River in May of 2007 as a lead Receptionist. She has been working full time as our Practice Manager
    since October of 2012, and assists the doctors, technicians, and reception staff throughout each day.

  • Emily Maslyn

    Emily started here as an intern during her senior year of high school in 2017. When her internship ended, she became a part time Veterinary Nurse. She is also a full-time student at the University of Rhode Island pursuing degree in Animal and Veterinary Science. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends, family and two dogs Snoopy and Danni.

  • Jordan Walsh

    Jordan joined the WRAH staff in April 2016. She is a student at the University of Rhode Island and is studying Pre-Veterinary science. At school, Jordan is a Resident Assistant, research assistant and mentor. During the spring she volunteers with 4-H to teach special interest
    classes to children to share her passion in animal science. In her time off she spends time with her two dogs, Bailey and Brandy.

  • Kianna Taylor

    Kianna started as an intern at WRAH in May of 2016, and shortly after was hired as a part time Veterinary Technician. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Veterinary science at the University of Rhode Island with her ultimate goal to become a Veterinarian. In her spare time, she enjoys being with friends and family as well as her horse and dog.

  • Sheri Hartman

    Sheri has worked here for 14 years on and off! She starts her day at home with her four dogs and four cats, all have been rescues. During the school year, she works as a technician fulltime and is happy to do pet sitting for people when they go on vacation.

  • Taylor Browning

    Taylor started at WRAH as an intern during the course of her senior year of high school. Now she works here at the hospital part time to broaden her horizons with the ultimate goal of becoming a nurse. She is working towards a degree in General Science and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, including her 4 dogs and cat.
