Dr. C.G. Byers is board-certified veterinary specialist is small animal emergency and critical care, as well as small animal internal medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences from Colorado State University, and graduated as a University Honors Scholar. Dr. Byers then earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He is also a Certified Veterinary Journalist in the American Society of Veterinary Journalists.
Dr. Byers is committed to educating colleagues, students and the animal-owning public about unique aspects of veterinary healthcare. He has written several textbook chapters and has published scientific papers in various peer-reviewed journals. He has co-authored the textbook, Handbook of Veterinary Emergency Protocols: Dog and Cat, and the second edition was published in 2014. He is a recognized invited speaker at regional, national and international veterinary conferences, presenting seminars on a variety of topics in critical care and small animal internal medicine. Dr. Byers also enjoys clinical research, and his current areas of interest are abdominal compartment syndrome and immune-mediated diseases.
